42 MILE SATURDAY

I finally got out yesterday on my new Cannondale for a "first" ride. I rode 42 miles (a personal best) and had the time of my life. Unfortunately, Bill rode in the morning. Our schedules yesterday totally conflicted. I was bummed. 42 miles is a LONG ride. Riding solo at times is nice. You can focus on things you want to try out, and you can really clear your head. On a ride this length though, it would've been nice to have someone there to break up the monotony.

With that being said, the bike is light as a feather. Riding the "TANK" of a mountain bike I used to ride is now a blessing. What a difference in the weight between my 2 "rides."

I was amazed at how easy the hills were. The bike is so responsive too. Tight and it handles well. I'm very pleased.

I'm hoping tonight to get out for a quick 10-mile ride where I can really test out a few things on the bike. I'm ready to see how fast I can go on it.

On a side note, I'm hooked on the clipless shoes! What a difference they make. I really noticed the change when I was climbing hills. The "uplifting" my legs were doing seemed easy and efficient. I was nervous about going out for such a long ride with "new" shoes, but they were fine. Didn't hurt my feet at all.

My legs today are "tired." Not hurting, but they're tired.

More to blog later...

Happy Easter everyone.
