DONE BEFORE I STARTED...
There are certain variables that attribute to a fantastic, memorable ride. Weather is one of them. Temps that are "just right" can really make a ride. Similar to Goldilocks, cyclists prefer rides that are not too cold, not too hot, but just right.
Mental preparedness is also a strong variable that dictates how a ride is going to pan out. I call it "mental momentum." It can carry you a long way. Usually, I'm stoked to be out riding.
Today,I had both the weather and mental preparedness beat me down. My heart wasn't in my ride this morning. I sadly rode one loop around the neighborhood and called it quits. Too cold. My mind was elsewhere.
I can count on 1 hand the times I have felt like this in the past 7 months, so I'm not worried about it. My body must be trying to tell me something. I'm trying to listen.
I'm still on pace to get 100 miles this week, so I'm pleased in that regard. I'm bummed I didn't get more miles in this morning. I have tomorrow morning to ride, Friday morning and evening and then 2 rides on Saturday. Between those 5 rides, I can muster up 70+ miles.
Not today though.
I was done before I started.
